Bacterial Compartmentalized Cellular CatalysIs TOward Green Electro-Dialysis Free Hydrogen Production

PHD CHEMISTRY, STARTING FALL 2019, BORDEAUX, FRANCE

Compartmentalization provides means to miniaturize and integrate functions based on individual biochemical processes. We have recently shown that the bacteria encapsulated within the Si(HIPE) beads can consume the outside glucose, realize enzymatic reactions using substrates from and releasing products into the surrounding medium. In practice, cycling and cascade-type catalytic reactions mode have also been demonstrated. The scope of the PhD project is the development of this advanced technology for energy production (H2 bio-generation).
