GECat 2018 : Prize for the best oral communication

GECat 2018 : Prize for the best oral communication

Sophie Bernadet was the recipient of one of the two prizes awarded for the best oral communication at the 2018 annual meeting of the Catalysis Study Group (GECat), held from 22 to 25 May in Trégunc, Finistère (Brittany).

The communication focused on the use of innovative monolithic solids with controlled macroporosity for the photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to produce hydrocarbons with a high energy value. The considerable impact of these materials on light diffusion was presented using a kinetic model. These results represent another step forward in the conversion of the sun’s energy into solar fuels.

Sophie Bernadet’s PhD research, supervised by Antoine Fécant (IFPEN’s Catalysis and Separation Division) and co-supervised by Rénal Backov (Centre de Recherche Paul Pascal (CRPP) research center, Bordeaux – currently visiting professor at MIT, USA) and Serge Ravaine (CRPP Bordeaux), falls within the framework of challenge 2, Reaction Mechanisms.

Sophie Bernadet will defend her thesis in November 2018.
